COLLABORATION
ARTISTS: Rine Rodin, Magga Ploder, Liselotte Gellert
FACTS: The installation consisted of a processing code,
a Kinect and two projectors on a white wall.
PLACE: DIAS DIGITAL INTERACTIVE ART SPACE, Vallensbæk (DK)
YEAR: 2014

The digital marble formations meander across
the white surface following the movement of a passerby. The wall mimics how the marble patterns are created by intense pressure and heat of the metamorphosis, like dark veins on pale skin.
The metamorphosis takes place in a rapid pace, changing the surface over time and leaving traces of human presence. The geological time of the material is condensed to human time scale and we now control what would before emphasize our insignificance. Shifting from the analogue to the digital the idea of the marble is separated from that of nature’s tedious processes and like dropping paint in water the formations rapidly appear on the wall as if growing from the surface. In the transit zone of solitary individuality the cold and lifeless stone is awakened in its imitation of human movement. As freeing a sculpture from the stone block, the marble lives and breathes in its computational algorithms.
