PLACE: Code Art Fair, Copenhagen (DK)
YEAR: 2016

The Swing is inspired by the painting L'Escarpolette (The Swing) by Fragonard from 1767. Known as one of the great masterpieces of the Rococo era and also Fragonard's best known work. The painting was associated with virtue because of the subjects living close to nature, uncorrupted by the temptations of the city. The Swing resembles the original swing from the painting, with its wooden plate and woven rope. However, it represents the complete opposite, placed within concrete walls, painting a digital picture it becomes hard and modern. It gives children of all ages the possibility to swing on and let their movement create a new kind of masterpiece for the modern world, without real paint and inspired by the disruption of the city.
