Live performance "Parasit" in the Metro during Copenhagen Art Week presented by DIAS
The artist duo NULEINN combines technologies and textiles to extend their bodies – in an interactive performance that registers other traveller’s bodies. They use the parasite as a term to explore the Metro as a body. The Metro becomes a host for endoparasite’s that coexist at the expense of the host.
With the work “Parasit” NULEINN dissects the components of the metro where they find their inspiration from the metro’s movements, light and architecture and mimic it in their bodies. The parasite lights up in the presence of other bodies and addresses the bodily presence in this transit everyday space. A space that for a short period of time hosts humans that come together as one body but often seek anonymity.
NULEINN wants to address this anonymity, and give the travellers the possibility to view their journey with the metro in a different light. The Metro seen from afar might seem a simple, oftentimes uncomfortable place, filled with different smells, sounds, lights, screens and movements, but by looking closer at the inner workings and “parasites” inside of the “host”, it can look beautiful and almost romantic – a magnificent mixture of different beings stuck in a tube together.
