Performance-installation at KonventZero in Catalonia.
Drawing inspiration from the geometric formations of crystals, NULEINN created the ultimate healing tool, used to heal the mind, expand the third eye and give the audience a quick fix. Our identities are constructed while being completely surrounded by technologies, information and screens, depicting social media and raw data. We have misplaced our forefather’s beliefs and experiences about mystique and unexplainable powers of nature. In the loss of our original culture we found solace in modern western spiritualism, seeking balance and stillness – We are led by the crystals, our spiritual guides. The crystal serves as a transmitter, receiving and releasing energies. During the performance installation, the audience was invited to step into a healing circle, lying down on the floor with their heads on square pillows holding the healing tool, which is formed as aluminum polygons, to their forehead. Inside the pillows a pair of headphones played a series of pop-songs all referring to different types of crystals and diamonds. The word “diamond” refers to wealth and status in society, whereas “crystal” often refers to methamphetamine and a high similar to falling in love. Both abundance and addiction are often seen in religious context as being sinful in its flesh-like cravings, making KonventZero, with its religious history, the optimal setting.
